Gold ore slurry is conditioned with suitable flotation reagents and introduced into the flotation cell. During operation, air is dispersed into the slurry to form bubbles while agitation promotes contact between mineral particles and air bubbles.

Hydrophobic mineral particles attach to the bubbles and rise to the slurry surface, forming a mineralized froth layer. The froth product is collected, while the remaining slurry continues to the next flotation stage or is discharged according to the process flowsheet.

Depending on the ore characteristics and beneficiation process, the flotation machine can be arranged in different stages:

Roughing → Scavenging → Tailings
